THE CHIRANDU SYSTEM

POSITION IN THE GROUP

Role in the Chirandu System
The Chirandu Group comprises five entities; the Institute is the origin point. Every asset the Group deploys begins in an Institute field engagement. The commercial divisions deploy and license what it authenticates.

β€œ The group's commercial value is an expression of the standards the Institute maintains. The Institute's standards are not a function of the group's commercial performance.”

Chirandu Institute
ORIGIN, STANDARDS, AND PUBLICATION
The origin point of all Chirandu value. Generates the Archive, sets the Flavour Intelligence Framework, and publishes the record under which everything in it is authenticated and classified.
Chirandu Botanica
APPLIED SENSORY, FLAVOUR AND BOTANICAL R&D
Conducts the applied science: sensory and flavour characterisation, aroma development, and applied flavour systems R&D, alongside licensable botanical IP, all within the framework the Institute establishes and under its governance protocols throughout.
Chirandu Ai
DATA SCIENCE AND PROBABILISTIC MODELLING
Applies data science and modelling to authenticated datasets, deployed through MBEU, the group’s proprietary platform. Operates with assets that completed the Institute’s standard.

COMMERCIAL LICENSING VEHICLE
Licenses the Institute’s certified intelligence and sensory assets to Tier-1 flavour, fragrance, food, and beverage companies. Does not originate assets, conduct consent, or set classification. All commercial activity is governed by the terms in the dossiers the Institute itself issues.
Chirandu Capital
INVESTMENT AND STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT
Manages investment activity and strategic development at group level. Has no role in the Institute’s certification function.
Governance Independence
The Institute’s authority carries weight because it has no stake in its authentication. Three structural mechanisms hold this in place: legal separation from the group’s commercial divisions; a prohibition on Institute officers holding operational roles in any commercial division within the group; and a conflict-of-interest protocol that assigns any authentication in which an officer has a financial interest to an independent review panel.
The Institute does not measure itself against commercial outcomes. It measures itself against the quality and consistency of its authentications, the continuity of its community relationships, and the precision of its characterisation and publication.

β€œThe value the group creates is a consequence of the integrity of what the Institute authenticates. That integrity does not adjust to commercial circumstances.”
