INTELLIGENCE FRAMEWORK
Every entry in the Archive is authenticated to the Flavour Intelligence Framework, the Institute’s standard for evidentiary weight, source traceability, and citation defensibility. It lets a buyer build a filing, a formulation, or a claim on the Institute’s own word and have it hold.
Editorial governance is by peer review. Nothing enters the published record without passing it. The standard is what separates a reference from a mere database that anyone could compile.

The Three Tests
Authentication turns on three distinct tests.
An entry is published only when it clearly satisfies all three.
Evidentiary Weight

The community as a collective agrees to the knowledge entering the Institute’s system. This is formalised through a Community Consent Document executed in the community’s primary language and in English, held by both parties in perpetuity. The Document specifies the knowledge domain, the application categories covered, and the benefit-sharing framework for commercial uses. Consent is reviewed every three years. If a community withdraws consent, the affected asset’s certification is immediately suspended.

Source Traceability

Every claim in an entry is traceable to its source: the field engagement, the knowledge holder, the laboratory result, or the corroborating record. A reader can follow any statement to its origin. Source traceability is what makes the Archive defensible under scrutiny, and what distinguishes it from the unverified market material.

Citation Defensibility
Every entry is structured to be cited, by counsel in a filing, by a scientist in a paper, by a product team, without loss of meaning or attribution. Citation defensibility lets the Institute’s work travel into the systems that use it and carry its authority fully intact.
What the Archive Holds
ETHNOBOTANICAL RECORDS

The documented identity, traditional uses, preparation methods, and cultural context of each ingredient, captured at source. The foundational layer from which every other category is built.

REGIONAL PALATE COMPOSITIONS
What a region’s cuisine is built on, its fats, proteins, souring systems, and botanical pantry. Basis of the Regional Palate Atlas.
SENSORY CHARACTERISATIONS
Descriptions of how each ingredient presents, the aroma families, mouthfeel, and temporal taste events, in a controlled vocabulary. The base of the Flavour Lexicon and panels licensing it.
PROCESSING PARAMETERS AND PROVENANCE
The seasonal and geographic variables, preparation methods, and documentation that govern how an ingredient behaves and its origin. The layer that makes formulation and regulatory work possible.
HOW THE ASSETS ARE RELEASED
  • The Knowledge Archive is released under tiered subscription, governed by usage and sector, no redistribution.
  • The Flavour Lexicon is released as an open academic edition for citation, and a commercial edition licensed per company.
  • The Regional Palate Atlas is released by subscription only, tiered by usage, with white-label arrangements under separate licence.
  • Advisory engagements run under engagement-specific terms; reusable methodology is retained by the Institute, and client outputs are licensed for defined use.
  • Publications and curricula are released under publishing agreements with reverting rights, and curriculum is licensed to each institution each year.

Editorial Governance

Authority compounds through publication. The Institute releases its standards, vocabularies, and research in two streams: an open academic edition that builds citation, and a licensed commercial edition for industry. Peer review governs both. Each revision is published with an account of changes. The published record is the one asset that cannot be taken.
